Tell Me Tuesday

This weeks question from Suzanne at Coloradolady is
What is the most unique thing you own?

This was hard because I have a lot of stuff, junk and treasures.  Mementos, keepsakes, heirlooms and I could go on and on.  So what makes them unique?
Then I realized the one item I have that is like no other is this ring
This ring is very special
When my Dad passed away almost 6 years ago my Mom took his wedding ring and her wedding rings to a jeweler and had them made into this new ring
Mom wore her original wedding rings until they were thin at the back and had to be fixed
she never wanted another set nor a bigger diamond, she loved her rings as they were but wanted to combine their love into this
She calls it 'our ring'
Her fingers have thinned with age and she is afraid to wear it now, afraid it will fall off her finger and be lost.  She gave it to me and I wear it always.  I will pass this on to my children one day.  It is a testament to a love that lasted for over 50 years of marriage and is still going strong even though death has parted them....for now!

Linda

  3. Absolutely wonderful! What a great idea to have both rings fused together like that. Definitely a testament to a deep and lasting love that will endure throughout your family as it is passed along from mother to daughter. Thank you for sharing!

  5. what a fabulous and special story and ring. my mom had a ring made with her father's tie tack, and unfortunately, soon after she moved in with my step dad, the house was burglarized and it was stolen. it isn't about the ring itself, you know, it's what the ring was.

  7. What a beautiful post. I've been having my share of watery eyes these days. The ring is gorgeous. That is an incredibly wonderful idea that your Mom had to have the two rings made into one. You must just cherish that ring so much.

Blessings to you and your family,
    Susan
